Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene

Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene (born June 4, 1943 in Litzmannstadt ) is a German process engineer . From 1985 to 2007 he was rector of the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences .

Life

The Hoyningen-Huene family is a Baltic noble family.

After graduating from the Kant-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe in 1962, Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene studied engineering at the University of Karlsruhe . In 1967 he completed his studies with a diploma in process engineering .

After working as a project engineer at BASF AG (1967–1970) and as the head of the German engineering department at Koch Engineering in Wichita , Kansas (1970–1972), he was appointed professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Mannheim in 1972 ) and taught there the subjects of fluid mechanics and data processing . In 1981 he was elected Vice Rector and 1985 Rector of the university. He held this office until the end of 2007.

Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene has been married to Dietlind von Hoyningen-Huene since 1969. Zeidler, you have two children together.

Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene is a member of the Rotary-Club Mannheim-Brücke, where he was president of the club year 2009/10.

Board membership

Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene has been a member of the administrative board of the Mannheim Evening Academy since 1985 .

From 1988 to 2007 he was chairman of the rectors 'conference of the universities of applied sciences in Baden-Württemberg , from 1989 to 2007 he was also a voting member in the Senate and the plenary assembly of the university rectors' conference (HRK) . From 1990 to 1991 he was involved as a member of the working group “Universities of Applied Sciences in the New Federal States” of the Science Council and from 1991 to 1993 as a member of the Saxon University Commission.

He held other offices from 1996 to 1998 as an advisory member of the University Structure Commission Baden-Württemberg and from 1999 to 2002 as a member of the German Accreditation Council . From 2002 to 2007 he headed the accreditation commission of the accreditation agency ASIIN .

From 2001 to 2006 Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene was a member of the Baden-Württemberg Education Council.

Since 2004 he has been chairman of the sponsoring association of the Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester .

In 2006 he was appointed to the scientific advisory board of the Science Center Saxony-Anhalt Lutherstadt Wittenberg e. V. appointed. Since 2006 von Hoyningen-Huene has been a member of the University Council of the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim . From 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the board of the Zukunft Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar eV (ZMRN e.V.) and has been an active member of the association's board of trustees ever since.

Since 2007 he has been a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts , the University Council of the University of Nuremberg and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

Since 2008 he has been a member of the board of directors of the Verein für Gemeindediakonie und Rehabilitation e. V. and head of the contact office of the city of Mannheim in Stuttgart.

Since 2008 he has also been a member of the supervisory board of several companies and since 2010 he has been chairman of the board of the Technoseum Mannheim Foundation .

honors and awards

In recognition of his university policy activities, especially in connection with the restructuring of the university landscape in the new federal states after the reunification of Germany, Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1994 .

In 1996 he received an honorary doctorate from the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine Nancy .

In 2001 he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg , and in 2002 he received the Rhein-Neckar-Dreieck Award and the honorary senator of the University of Mannheim .

In 2007 Dietmar von Hoyningen-Huene was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class , and in the same year with honorary membership of the VDI. In 2009 he received the Kurpfalz Ring of Honor.
