Dietrich Kropfberger

Dietrich Kropfberger (born October 27, 1946 in Linz ) is an Austrian economist and former university professor at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt .

Life

After secondary school in Linz, Dietrich Kropfberger attended the Federal Commercial Academy in Linz, where he graduated with honors in 1965. After military service, he studied business administration at the University of Linz . He completed this course in 1970 with an excellent master's degree. He then devoted himself to his doctoral studies as an assistant and lecturer at the Institute for International Marketing under Ernest Kulhavy . After completing his doctorate with distinction, he began his habilitation course on the subject of the habilitation : strategic management in SMEs , which he completed in 1984 and thus obtained his license to teach general business administration .

In July 1984 he was appointed to what is now the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt as a founding professor for the course in applied business administration . There he worked until 2007 as a full university professor for business administration and corporate management . During this period he was also a lecturer at the WU Vienna , the University of Linz , the University of Salzburg and the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) . His tireless work at the University of Klagenfurt also included the establishment of a university course in tourism management in 1993. After holding the position of dean of the Faculty of Economics and Computer Science for a few years , he played a key role in developing the new information management department in 2004 as the department head .

Until 2007 Dietrich Kropfberger was head of the institute for corporate management, then the health-related retirement followed. In addition to his university work, he does extensive consulting work in various Austrian companies. Particularly noteworthy at this point is his long-standing function and cooperation in the Kärntner Sparkasse , especially in the private foundation Kärntner Sparkasse . Since 1999 he has been a member of the board and from 2013 chairman of the board. He resigned from this position in 2016 when he reached the age of 70 (reaching the age limit). The Kärntner Sparkasse honored him for his many years of cooperation with the golden Sparkasse pin.

Dietrich Kropfberger has written numerous publications, lectures and seminars in the areas of controlling and strategic corporate management, including textbooks for marketing and controlling .

Dietrich Kropfberger has been married since 1971 and has a daughter (* 1977) and two sons (* 1975 and * 1985).
