Dietrich Masteit

Dietrich Masteit (born January 19, 1923 in Gülzow , Cammin district ; † June 24, 2020 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Career

Dietrich Masteit came from a Christian conservative family, his father was a member of the " Stahlhelm " and his mother was a member of the " Luisenbund ". At the age of eight he became a member of the youth organization “Scharnhorstbund” of the “Stahlhelm”, with the “Scharnhorstbund” he was taken over in 1934 by the Hitler Youth (HJ). Masteit attended a grammar school and graduated from high school in 1940 . He then volunteered for the Wehrmacht and later became an officer .

After the Second World War , Masteit studied political science at the German University of Politics in West Berlin from 1949 and, at the suggestion of Harry Ristock, joined the " Falken " and in 1952 also the SPD. In 1953 Masteit took his diploma and became an educator, later a youth association secretary . He worked for two years as a clerk in the compensation office in Berlin and in 1957 became a personal advisor to Senator Ella Kay . After her resignation he worked from 1964 as a lecturer at the international meeting place Jagdschloss Glienicke . In 1968 he became director of the adult education center in the Kreuzberg district .

In the 1971 Berlin election , Masteit was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives. He was able to win the direct mandate in the constituency of Charlottenburg 1, in 1981 he left parliament.

Masteit was an advocate for the protection of non-smokers .
