Digimon World 2003 ( Japanese デ ジ モ ン ワ ー ル ド 3 新 た な る 冒 険 の 扉 , Dejimon Wārudo 3: Arata Naru Bōken no Tobira ) is the third game in the Digimon World series , released in 2002 . The role-playing game for Playstation was developed by Bandai and published outside Europe and Australia as Digimon World 3 . The biggest notable difference to the other parts of the series is the ability to continue the game after completing the final goal.

The player takes on the role of a boy named Junior who enters an online game world ( MMORPG ) called Digimon Online , which is operated by MAGAMI Corporation . A terrorist attack on the Internet prevents Junior and his friends from leaving the game, so he decides to stop the attackers with his Digimon partners.

Unlike the previous Digimon World games, wild Digimon appear in random battles and the combat system is turn-based, similar to the Final Fantasy game series.

story

Junior and his friends Ivy and Teddy log into the online gaming experience Digimon Online , in which Ivy describes himself as "Kail" and Junior names the players' nicknames himself. You land in Asuka City, which is on the Asuka server. Soon after their arrival, the players are caught in the game due to an error in the system. MAGAMIs Game Master assures all players that it will fix the problem as soon as possible and accuses Lucky Mouse, a famous hacker . Junior continues his adventure and defeats the leader of Seiryu City and receives his first badge. The latter must be obtained in order to be admitted to the world combat tournament through possession of all four city badges. Shortly thereafter, he travels to the western sector, which is controlled by the AoA, and discovers the secret base of Lucky Mouse, who turns out to be Kail's missing brother Kurt and a resister against the AoA. It provides information that MAGAMI works for the AoA. Soon after, the latter appear, turn Kurt into an oinkmon and steal the Vemmon Digi-Egg, which he tried to hide from them. Junior starts an attack on the admin center, defeating the Game Master and placing it in quarantine. Thereupon he uses a network loophole to get to the Amaterasu server, where he is horrified to find that all the Tamer have been turned into Oinkmon by the AoA. He defeats two of the AoA leaders and learns more about their dire plans. You are trying to unleash a large, formidable secret weapon called the Juggernaut on the real world in order to gain dominion not only over the internet but also over the real world. Junior returns to the Asuka server as quickly as possible, defeats the fourth leader and uses an emergency transport system to briefly get into the real world and prevent Juggernaut from starting there. However, he does not make it in time and has to watch as Juggernaut unites with Vemmon and digests into Destromon.

Junior returns to the Amaterasu server to defeat the last two AoA leaders and gains entry to Amaterasu City. There he leads an attack on the Amaterasu admin center and defeats the MAGAMI president. He also manages to use the central computer and destroy Destromon in the real world. In order to solve the oinkmon problem, he asks Airdramon in Seiryu City for wind energy, which is supposed to help convert all transformed tamers back. But the joy doesn't last long, because the Oinkmon virus returns and only Junior and Kail get away with it. A creature appears who calls himself Lord Megadeath, and Junior travels to the Gunslinger military satellite to defeat Megadeath. He succeeds in the latter, but Lord Megadeath had success in his project to create Snatchmon. Snatchmon absorbs the defeated Lord and unites with Gunslinger to finally become Galacticmon. After a tough fight, Junior defeats him.

After his final victory, Junior returns to the Amaterasu server where four new server leaders will be announced and Kurt will be named the new MAGAMI President and World Champion.

Exclusive Digimon

Oinkmon

Oinkmon is a Champion Level Digimon in the shape of a pig. When people lose their matrix data in the digital world, they transform into this form. Oinkmon appeared for the first time when TK and Patamon in the first series ( Digimon Adventure ) thought about the shape into which Patamon could digitize .

Cardmon

Cardmon is a Digimon in the form of a card and can be either Rookie, Champion, Ultra or Mega level, depending on how many cards there are on its body (1 - 4). There is also a second version of Cardmon . Unlike the yellow original, there is also a blue version, the latter can only be found underwater. In the game you get a card booster pack by defeating Cardmon .

Vemmon

Vemmon is a rookie-level Android Digimon .

Vemmon is reminiscent of a small alien , with two fingers on each hand and opposite legs. His eyes cannot be seen through a helmet with a visor. For some unknown reason, there is a necklace on his neck, like a prisoner's necklace.

In the game, Vemmon initially only appears as a very weak Digimon . His attacks are relatively harmless, but they have the side effect of stealing your Digimon's MP. You can see Vemmon as a kind of vampire.

Vemmon's real power is far greater than it seems. It is a man-made Digimon, which is used by the AoA as a multifunctional weapon. Its ability, and the meaning of its existence, lies in combining its matrix data with technology. This process enables one to unite with a machine and transform it into a living Oblekt. This is how Destromon is created in the game.

Vemmon also has the ability to turn people into oinkmon , a state in which they are completely helpless.

Destromon

Destromon is a machine Digimon on the Ultra / Armor level and represents a large, red, dinosaur and robot-like Digimon. It is equipped with a variety of energy cannons on its shoulders and its main weapon is on the chest. It is the result of the merger between Vemmon and the secret weapon Juggernaut .

After long deliberation on the part of the game characters to stop the monster, they managed to get through the central computer into his system and destroy it before it destroyed an entire city.

Destromon cannot be fought in the game, it can only be seen in film sequences.

Snatchmon

Snatchmon is an Android Digimon of unknown levels. It is born when many Vemmon absorb a large amount of matrix data.

It resembles a purple humanoid with a large visor helmet and a long, curling tail. It fell out of the control of its master, Lord Megadeath, and absorbed him after refusing to be considered a slave to its plans. Snatchmon calls itself the strongest Digimon that ever existed. It merges with the Gunslinger satellite and becomes the mighty Galacticmon , the final boss in Digimon World 2003 .

Snatchmon's attacks are not known, but it can absorb other digital life forms to increase its own power.

Galacticmon

Galaticmon is a Mega Level Machine Digimon, known as Ragnamon in the Japanese version . It is the final opponent in Digimon World 2003 .

Galacticmon is a gigantic cyber digimon that is reminiscent of a kind of space station. It is created when Snatchmon merges with the Gunslinger satellite. Its head alone is bigger than any other Digimon on the mega level and during a film sequence you can see it flying in orbit over the earth.

After the final battle with Galacticmon , it explodes and falls to earth as a meteor shower. His real plan was to unite with the entire planet and become Gaiamon .

Gaiamon

Gaiamon is an unknown Digimon that even exceeded the mega level, but it was never seen. Had Galacticmon merged with the earth, it would have taken this form, which would have resulted in the complete annihilation of humanity and an unimaginable power on its part. Since it has never been seen in the game, the appearance of this Digimon is unknown.

DRI agents

DRI agents give the game series a new function by sending the player on missions in which optional Digimon bosses have to be defeated on the ultra level. The latter boss gives the player his DDNA (digital DNA), which is handed over to the DRI agent and as a reward receives the rookie Digimon of the previously defeated Ultra Digimon as a partner. For example, the player receives an Agumon as a partner through the DDNA from MetalGreymon . However, DRI agents do not give a Digimon that you already have, but instead give the player a helpful comment on how to educate his Digimon. Another agent is the agent for Robin found on the Amaterasu, who requires Robin-DDNA, DDNA of a player on the Asuka server. This mission is part of a later side mission to get some strong Digimon.
