Dirk Girschik

Dirk Girschik (* 1985 in Dresden ) is a German musician and opera director .

Live and act

Girschik began his musical training on the piano and double bass as a child . In his youth he played the double bass in the southern Brandenburg string orchestra as well as in the chamber orchestra and youth symphony orchestra Cottbus, before joining the rock band Black Tequila as a bass player . With this he recorded a total of 4 albums and toured Europe.

After studying electrical engineering at the TU Dresden , Girschik trained as a stage, sound and lighting technician at the Theater Neue Bühne Senftenberg . During his subsequent activity as a sound engineer at the Neue Bühne with Intendant Sewan Latchinian , he worked with numerous artists (including Hans-Eckardt Wenzel ) and developed his first directing concepts.

From 2014 to 2019 Dirk Girschik studied musical theater directing at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin, staged numerous productions and in 2019 was awarded the academic degree Bachelor of Music . In 2016 he took over the production management for New Scenes III at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and assisted at the State Opera Berlin and in Salzburg with Andrea Moses . In 2019 Girschik directed Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg , opening the Bayreuth Festival . The new staging as a children's opera received international recognition.

Dirk Girschik has been studying directing - musical theater and acting at the Munich University of Music and Drama since 2019 .
