Dirk Manzewski

Dirk Manzewski (born July 11, 1960 in Kiel ) is a German judge and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1981 in Kiel , Manzewski began studying law at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel in 1983 . In 1989 he passed the first state examination in Schleswig and the second state examination in 1992 in Hamburg and entered the higher judicial service of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the Rostock district court . There he worked as a judge and public prosecutor. From April 1998 he was appointed judge at the Rostock Regional Court for life . After an interruption due to an election to the German Bundestag , Manzewski resumed his professional activity as a judge at the Rostock Regional Court in November 2009. In June 2011 he was commissioned to set up the State Office for Outpatient Offender Work in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ( LaStar ) in Rostock, which he headed until 2017. He has been a judge at the Rostock Higher Regional Court since 2017.

Dirk Manzewski is married and has one daughter.

Political party

In 1982 Manzewski joined the SPD. After moving to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, he became increasingly involved in party work, especially in building up party structures at the local level. He was a co-founder of a local SPD association and until 1998 its chairman and deputy chairman of the former SPD district association Bad Doberan .

MP

From October 1998 to September 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag in the 14th, 15th and 16th electoral periods and from October 2002 he was deputy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group . His main focus was on business law. Among other things, he was significantly involved in the reforms of the law of obligations, tenancy law and copyright law. He was a member of the European Law subcommittee. In the 16th legislative period, from November 2005, he was also the spokesman for the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state group in the SPD parliamentary group .

Manzewski was a member of the committee of inquiry to investigate the CDU donation affair .

Dirk Manzewski was directly elected member of the former constituency Rostock-Land - Ribnitz-Damgarten - Teterow - Malchin from 1998 and from 2002 of the constituency Bad Doberan - Güstrow - Müritz .
