Dirk van der Ven (born March 1, 1970 in Duisburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

After stints at TuS Holzen , VfR Sölde and VfL Schwerte , the Duisburg-born professional began his professional career at SG Wattenscheid 09 in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1987/88 season . In his debut season he came to 11 missions and one goal. Even in his second season he did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player and scored one goal in seven games. The move to 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 followed . Here he was also unable to assert himself and left the club to play for several years under-class at Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid before trying a new attempt at FC Gütersloh in 1995 . With Gütersloh he rose in the first year from the Regionalliga West / Südwest to the 2nd division and was top scorer with 21 goals. In the following second division season, as the most successful goalscorer of his team with ten goals, he had a significant share in the relegation of the climber in 1996/97 .

After the season he moved back to the regional league at LR Ahlen , where he only stayed until the winter break and then went to KFC Uerdingen 05 for a year and a half , where he became a regular again. With Arminia Bielefeld he played in the Bundesliga for the first time in the 1999/2000 season , but with Arminia he was relegated back to the 2nd division after a year. In 2003 he was promoted to the Bundesliga again with Bielefeld, but was no longer a regular player and only played once in his second and last Bundesliga season. After a short trip to Japan for Yokohama FC , he was on the field eleven times for Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga Nord before he moved to his old club FC Gütersloh in 2000 and a year later to the lower class SG Bustedt from Bünde .

After the career

Van der Ven was assistant coach of the women's team at FC Gütersloh 2000 . In the 2014/15 season he was Heiko Bonan's assistant coach at FC Gütersloh 2000. Since June 2017, the former Bundesliga professional has been the coach of Viktoria Rietberg II .

Today he runs a soccer hall and a soccer school. Dirk van der Ven made headlines in the press again in February 2006, when the ex-professional had his bald head auctioned at the internet auction house Ebay , on which he wanted to have advertising tattooed.
