The Discovery Sound is a 800 m wide strait with east-west orientation in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It separates the Guépratte Island from the Briggs Peninsula on the northeast side of the Anvers Island .
The German polar explorer Eduard Dallmann discovered this sea route while exploring with the Groenland (1873–1874). Participants of the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot mapped it. The name in 1927 goes back to scientists of the British Discovery Investigations .
