Disorder is an English crustcore and hardcore punk band from Bristol formed in 1980. The band, along with Chaos UK, are considered to be one of the most important on the city's punk scene.
history
The band was formed in 1980 by guitarist Steve Allen, singer Steve Curtis, bassist Nick Peters and drummer Neil "Virus" Worthington. In 1981 Steve Robertson came to the band to replace singer Curtis. The first two EPs Complete Disorder and Distortion to Deafness followed with this line-up . Before that, the band had sent a demo to Riot City Records , which made Simon Edwards aware of the band; since he found that Riot City Records did not fit the band, he founded Disorder Records for them . In 1982 Taf joined the line-up as the new bass player. Then the single Mental Disorder and EP Perdition were recorded. The latter EP was recorded in July 1982 at Cave Studios . On this EP you can also hear Chris “Boobs” Neil singing, after he was the second singer alongside Curtis in the band. In 1984 the band made a performance in Paris . Bassist Taf played the electric guitar as this position was vacant while Chaos von Chaos UK played the bass. Chaos had already helped out with the band on bass before Taf joined the band as a permanent bassist. After drummer Richard "Pots" Potts joined the band, the band recorded their album Under the Scalpel Blade at SAM Studios . She also recorded a concert on May 25, 1985 at the Blitz Club in Oslo , which was released under the name Live In Oslo . In the following years the line-up of the band changed several times and friends of the band members often had to fill in as a replacement. In 1986 bassist Taf de moved the band's location to Norway after moving there after marrying a Norwegian. The band then recorded songs for the split release One Day Son, All This Will Be Yours along with Kafka Process . This was followed by other appearances, before the album Violent World was released in 1989 , which was recorded in Bootleg Studios in Oslo. Kenneth Egen was then represented as the drummer, while Taf played bass and vocals and Steve Allen played guitar. The album included a cover version of Dolly Parton's Jolene . In 1994 the album Senile Punks… was released on Bastards Records . The album was recorded in Slovakia , with the album being released without the band's knowledge because producer Martin Valasek had sold the rights to the album to the label without the band's permission.
style
The band's first EPs are described as "wild tirades against the establishment " and "aggressive punk music ". Taf spoke out against activists who only fought for their own group, supporting animal suffering and death or disregarding women's rights. Jason Ankeny from Allmusic compares Disorder with Crass and Conflict because of their EP Mental Disorder . His colleague Stewart Mason, on the other hand, emphasizes that, unlike many other political bands like Crass or The Ex , the band has never been experimental, but instead offers fast drums, distorted guitars and screeched vocals on Kamikaze . The band Plastic names Bertrand , Anarcho-Punk , Oi! and crustcore as well as alcohol and other drugs; She compares its sound to a Triumph Bonneville that collides with a cement mixer.
