The district of Iberia is located in the province of Tahuamanu in the Madre de Dios region in southeastern Peru . The district was established on June 7, 1961. It extends over an area of ​​2584 km². The 2017 census counted 6170 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3858, in 2007 it was 6715. The district administration is located in the 260  m high town of Iberia with 4987 inhabitants (as of 2017). Iberia is located 52 km south of the provincial capital Iñapari on the Río Tahuamanu .

Geographical location

The district of Iberia is located in the Amazon lowlands in the east of the province of Tahuamanu. It borders on the Iñapari district to the west and north and the Tahuamanu district to the south-east and south .
