Divinity: Dragon Commander is a real-time strategy game developed by Larian Studios and released by Daedalic Entertainment in August 2013 for Windows PCs and Xbox 360 . It is the first game in the Divinity series in the real-time strategy game genre and takes place before the last part of the Divinity series Divinity 2: Ego Draconis .

You play the bastard son of the murdered emperor from the previous Divinity parts and try to unite the divided land of Rivellon under your own rule. The emperor's three legitimate children want to prevent this.

Game mechanics

The player character resides on the airship "Raven" which serves as the hero's base. Diplomatic envoys from other races, such as the undead , elves , dwarfs , lizards and imps, also come there . Marrying a princess of the lizards, for example, binds the people to you permanently.

Each race wants to assert its interests: for example, to give more support to the poor or to improve environmental protection. In addition to Dragon Commander , a second team developed the concept of the cooperative role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin . Original Sin was originally intended as the smaller of the two projects to be released before Dragon Commander . In the course of development, however, the priorities shifted, so that the work on Dragon Commander was brought to an early end in order to then concentrate on the expansion and completion of Original Sin .

In May 2012, the publisher of Divinity: Dragon Commander, Daedalic Entertainment, was revealed. The final release took place worldwide on August 6, 2013.
