Dmitri Nikolajewitsch Subbotin ( Russian Дмитрий Николаевич Субботин ; born October 20, 1977 in Tomsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Rubin Tyumen in the Vysschaja Hockey League until 2011 . His older brother Andrei is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Dmitri Subbotin began his career as a hockey player with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg , for whom he was active in the Russian Super League from 1993 to 1995 . He then played for three years for their league rivals HK CSKA Moscow . During this period he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1996 in the third round as a total of 76 players by the New York Rangers , for which he never played. The 1998/99 season began the attacker at HK Dynamo Moscow , which he left after just one game to spend the next two years at HK Lada Tolyatti , before he returned to the capital city club Dynamo Moscow in the 2000/01 season the ice. This was followed by one season each at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Severstal Tscherepowez , with the left shooter returning to his ex-club HK CSKA Moscow during the 2002/03 season.
During the 2003/04 season, Subbotin was signed by HK Avangard Omsk , with whom he became Russian champion for the first time in his career at the end of the season . Through this success he and his team qualified for the IIHF European Champions Cup 2005 , in the final of which he prevailed with Awangard Omsk against Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga . The 2005/06 season began the winger at Salawat Yulayev Ufa , but moved to HK MWD Tver after only five games , for which he spent the following two seasons in the Super League. After a season with Vityas Chekhov , Subbotin was committed in the summer of 2008 by his ex-club HK MWD from the newly founded Continental Hockey League , which has since been relocated to Balaschikha . For the HK MWD Balaschicha he played for a year as well as for the HK Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk , with whom he was promoted to the KHL as a second division champion. However, he had to leave the team and last played in the 2010/11 season for Rubin Tyumen in the new Russian second division, the Wysschaja Hockey League .
International
For Russia , Subbotin took part in the 1999 World Cup, where he finished fifth with his team.
