Doğan Küçükduru (born January 1, 1949 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish football player . Because of his many years of work for Göztepe Izmir , he is associated with this association. Especially because of his performances in the 1977/78 season , fans and clubs see him as one of the most legendary players in the club's history. In the season mentioned he formed a very successful storm trio with İrfan Ertürk (right winger) and Sadullah Acele (center forward). This trio contributed to the fact that the club set the new goal record for a team in the second division with 67 goals. The storm trio Doğan-Sadullah-İrfan was so successful that the fans started singing the rhyme Doğan, İrfan, ortala, bombala Sado bombala! (analogous to German: Doğan and İrfan crosses in and Sado (Sadullah) shoots him in! ) composed for them and still sings it at home games today.

Career

society

Küçükduru began club football in the youth of Kasımpaşa Istanbul and later rose to the club's professional team. In 1969 he began his military service and served in the navy, which was stationed in the port city of Izmir . At that time it was common for professional footballers to play in the respective company team during their military service. Küçükduru also played during his military service with Izmir Denizgücü , the naval operations team. Here he was also noticed by those responsible for the then first division team Göztepe Izmir , who transferred him after his military service ended. For Göztepe he played the next four seasons.

For the 1975/76 season , Göztepe and Küçükduru had an offer from second division club Mersin İdman Yurdu . This club tried since the early 1960s by the local patron of the city of Mersin , Mehmet Emin Karamehmet , to become a top club in the league. After being promoted to the top Turkish league in the summer of 1967 and having spent seven seasons there, they were relegated to the second league again in the summer of 1974 . In order to move up again, the coach Kadri Aytaç , who was in great demand at the time, was hired and some seasoned first division players were hired at his request. Küçükduru was one of these players. At the end of the season they reached the second division championship and thus the hoped-for promotion to the first league . Küçükduru played one more season for Mersin İY after promotion and then left the club.

For the 1977/78 season he moved to his old club Göztepe Izmir . This club was relegated to the second highest Turkish league, the 2nd league, for the first time in its club history in the summer of 1977. In order to ensure immediate resurgence, a powerful squad was put together. At the end of the 1977/78 season they achieved the second division championship and thus direct promotion to the 1st league due to the significantly better goal difference compared to the table runner-up Rizespor . Küçükduru formed on the position of the left winger with İrfan Ertürk ( right winger ) and Sadullah Acele ( Center forward ) a very successful storm trio. They were supported by playmaker Ali Çağlar . The team set a new league record with 67 league goals as the team that scored the most goals in a season. Most of these hits were scored by the aforementioned team of four. Ali Çağlar was even the top scorer in the league with 17 goals together with Raşit Çetiner from Kocaelispor . The storm trio Doğan-Sadullah-İrfan was so successful that over the course of the season the fans chanted the rhyme Doğan, İrfan, ortala, bombala Sado bombala! (analogous to German: Doğan and İrfan crosses in and Sado (Sadullah) shoots him in! ) composed for them and still sings it at home games today. After two first division years, Göztepe rose again to the second division. Küçükduru then declared the end of his active professional football career.

National team

In 1974, Küçükduru was nominated for the Turkish national team by the then national coach Coşkun Özarı as part of the ECO Cup . During the tournament he completed his first and only international match in the game played on January 20, 1974 against the Iranian national team . At the end of the ECO Cup in 1974 , he and his team won this cup.
