Ben is surprised when one night his best college friend Jeff suddenly appears at the door. He's straight from Mexico and they haven't seen each other in many years. While Jeff is still living as an alternative and planning to find galleries for art projects in South America with a cowboy hat and a full beard, Ben has settled down, married Anna, built a house and started working as a city planner. The couple also plans children meticulously. Jeff's arrival disrupts the couple's orderly life. Instead of having dinner with Anna, Ben prefers to go to a party the next evening, which Jeff is attending. Both get drunk without restraint and get excited about the idea of making a film. The conversation soon turns to the HUMP! -Festival in which self-made porn films can be submitted, which will be destroyed at the end of the event. Jeff could imagine doing some porn, but wants to break new ground and see the result as art. Since same-sex sex by heterosexuals has never been seen before, he and Ben finally plan to sleep together in front of the camera. Since Jeff assumes that Ben will pinch, he orders a hotel room in Paris that same night for the evening after next. Jeff still bets that Ben will withdraw his commitment when sober.

The next morning everyone tries to get the other to leave the project on their own initiative. Since nobody gives in, the project remains, which both claim to be an attempt to “create a work of art together”. Ben promises Jeff to let Anna know about her plan and, if necessary, to get out if Anna doesn't agree. Although Ben succeeds in cryptically describing the festival to Anna, he evades when Anna immediately realizes that the festival is HUMP! acts. He now claims that he wants to assist Jeff with his film, the content of which he does not know. Both meet with Jeff, who finally describes the true content of the film to the cleverly asking Anna. Horrified, Anna goes home alone. Ben and Jeff, in turn, get drunk and are placed in a sobering cell by the police for the night. Here Ben Jeff confesses homoerotic thoughts that he once had with a video rental company. Jeff, on the other hand, admits that he would like to be a little "gay".

The next morning, Ben and Anna speak out. At the end of the day, Anna encourages Ben to realize the project with Jeff, as this is the only way for Ben to gain clarity about himself and the relationship with Anna. Anna, in turn, confesses to Ben that she had an affair a year ago but made it clear to her that she belongs to Ben. In the evening, Ben and Jeff finally meet at the hotel. Although they manage to kiss and undress almost completely in front of the camera, they spend the rest of the evening talking. Ben realizes that he has to go back to Anna and save his relationship. He leaves early. Jeff watches the film and also leaves the hotel that night.
