Dobošnica ( Cyrillic Добошница, often Duboštica ) is a place in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is part of the municipality of Lukavac in the Tuzla canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .

history

Dobošnica was first mentioned in the Ottoman Empire in 1533 as the village Dubareštica . Around 1640 the place received its first mosque. In 1939 the elementary school was built in Dobošnica, which served the partizans as a hospital during the German occupation in World War II. In 1941 the place was occupied by the Germans and on September 13, 1944, the Yugoslav partisans took it .

During the Bosnian War , Dobošnica was attacked by Serbian paramilitary forces in late August 1992. This resulted in looting, devastation and murders of residents of Dobošnica. According to local official sources, at least 37 civilians were killed and 700 houses burned down in the attack. Although the video recordings made by the Serbian attackers during this attack were saved as evidence after the war, this incident has not yet been prosecuted.

geography

Dobošnica is located in the narrow valley of the Kruševac river between the Ratiš mountains in the north and the Spreča river in the south, into which the Kruševac flows. Tuzla and Doboj are approx. 20 km and 40 km away, respectively.

Neighboring places are Smoluća , Šikulje , Prline and Gnojnica .

population

The largest part of the approx. 3600 inhabitants are Bosniaks , although precise information about other ethnic minorities is not available. The place also houses a small settlement of Roma , who have lived there for several generations.

economy

Before the Second World War, the region was primarily characterized by agriculture, with the residents living in self-sufficiency and relative poverty. After the Second World War, workshops for the repair of railway wagons developed on site, employing around 300 people. In the course of the Bosnian War , the place was largely destroyed, with many residents fled. Many families and residents of the town still live and work abroad today. In the meantime the place has been rebuilt, but it is only slowly recovering from the economic consequences of the destruction and victims of the civil war.

traffic

The Spreča Valley is the shortest connection between the Bosna and Drina valleys and has therefore long been an important trade and transport route. The Doboj – Tuzla railway has been running here since 1886 . Dobošnica has a train station on this route. In addition, the M4 magistral road runs through the village.

Sports

Dobošnica has been home to the FK Željezničar Dobošnica football club since 1953 , which plays in the regional league Prva liga TK (1st league of the Tuzla canton). The club has produced a number of players throughout its history, the most famous being Jusuf Hatunić , who played for the Yugoslav national team between 1972 and 1978.
