The Spreča ( Serbian - Cyrillic Спреча ) is a non-navigable river in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the right tributary of the Bosna, 127 km in length.

Run

It rises at an altitude of 261  m below the mountain Velja Glava ( 594  m ) in Papraća, municipality Šekovići near Zvornik and flows into the Bosna after 127 km near Doboj at an altitude of 138  m , whereby it the relatively densely populated areas of Kalesija , Živinice , Lukavac , Petrovo , Gračanica and Doboj flows through it.

Left tributaries are the Mala Spreča, Oskova and Gostelja, right tributaries the Gribaja and Jala.

At Lukavac the Spreča is dammed up to the 12 km long and up to 14 m deep Modračko jezero .

Catchment area

The catchment area covers 1947 km². The Spreča drains a large part of the canton of Tuzla .

traffic

The Spreča Valley is the shortest connection between the Drina near Zvornik and the Bosna near Doboj and has therefore been an important transport route for a long time. Today the Doboj – Tuzla– (Zvornik) railway line and the M4 main road run here.
