The glacial formed by glacial Dolina Goryczkowa pod Zakosy is a valley in the Polish West Tatra in the Lesser Poland . It is located in the municipality of Zakopane in the powiat Tatrzański .
geography
The valley is a southern side valley of the Dolina Goryczkowa valley , which in turn is a side valley of the main valley Dolina Bystrej . It is surrounded by mountains up to 1987 meters high. a. the Kasprowy Wierch . The rock walls in the valley are made of limestone and granite.
The valley falls from south to north from about 1987 meters to 1350 meters. It is traversed by the mountain river Gorczykowy Potok . Much of the valley's waters flow underground.
etymology
The name can be translated as "Goryczk valley under the paths". The name comes from the Hala Goryczkowa alpine pasture and the paths trodden by sheep on the alpine pasture.
Flora and fauna
The valley lies above the tree line and is overgrown by mountain pines. The valley is a retreat for numerous mammals and bird species.

Alpine farming
Before the Tatra National Park was established in 1954, the valley was used for alpine farming. After that, the owners of the alpine pastures were expropriated or forced to sell. The largest alpine pasture in the valley was Hala Goryczkowa . There are still old alpine huts in the valley.
tourism
There are no hiking trails through the valley, but there are ski slopes. The valley is part of the Kasprowy Wierch ski area . In the valley there are numerous slopes from Kasprowy Wierch and the Hala Goryczkowa ski lift , which leads from the valley floor to the summit.
