The glacial formed by glacial valley Dolina Bystrej is a valley in the Polish West Tatra in the Lesser Poland .

geography

The valley is around 6 km long and surrounded by mountains that are over 2005 m high. a. the Kopa Kondracka massif . It has an area of ​​approx. 17 km². The valley extends to the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains.

The valley falls from south-west to north-east from around 2005 meters in altitude to 930 meters in altitude. The mountain river Bystra flows through it. Much of the valley's waters flow underground. etymology

Flora and fauna

The valley lies above and below the tree line and is covered with mountain pines in the upper area and coniferous forest in the lower area. The valley is a retreat for numerous mammals and bird species.

Alpine farming

Before the Tatra National Park was established in 1954, the valley was used for alpine farming. After that, the owners of the alpine pastures were expropriated or forced to sell. Former alpine huts are still in the valley.

There are two refuges in the valley, the Kondratowa Hut and the Kalatówki Mountain Hotel , the Kasprowy Wierch cable car and the Kasprowy Wierch ski area . One of the ski slopes from Kasprowy Wierch to the Zakopan district of Kuźnice leads through the valley.

In the valley there are also two monasteries, Klasztoru Albertynek na Kalatówkach and Klasztoru Albertynów na Śpiącej Górze , and a hermitage.
