The glacial formed by glacial valley Dolina Bystrej is a valley in the Polish West Tatra in the Lesser Poland .
geography
The valley is around 6 km long and surrounded by mountains that are over 2005 m high. a. the Kopa Kondracka massif . It has an area of approx. 17 km². The valley extends to the main ridge of the Tatra Mountains.
The valley falls from south-west to north-east from around 2005 meters in altitude to 930 meters in altitude. The mountain river Bystra flows through it. Much of the valley's waters flow underground. The valley opens in Vortatragraben in the area of Zakopane district Kuźnice , located in the lower part of the valley.
The valley has numerous side valleys:
- Dolina Jaworzynki
- Dolina Kasprowa , which in turn is divided into Dolina Sucha Kasprowa and Dolina Stare Szałasiska
- Dolina Goryczkowa , which in turn is divided into Dolina Goryczkowa pod Zakosy and Dolina Goryczkowa Świńska ,
- Dolina Kondratowa , which in turn is divided into Dolina Sucha Kondracka and Dolina Małego Szerokiego .
etymology
The name can be translated as "Valley of the Rapid". The name comes from the mountain stream that flows through it. His name can be translated again as the "Fast" or the "Fast Bach".
Flora and fauna
The valley lies above and below the tree line and is covered with mountain pines in the upper area and coniferous forest in the lower area. The valley is a retreat for numerous mammals and bird species.

There is a high mountain climate in the valley.
Alpine farming
Before the Tatra National Park was established in 1954, the valley was used for alpine farming. After that, the owners of the alpine pastures were expropriated or forced to sell. Former alpine huts are still in the valley.

Numerous hiking trails lead through the valley from the surrounding mountain passes and peaks.

There are two refuges in the valley, the Kondratowa Hut and the Kalatówki Mountain Hotel , the Kasprowy Wierch cable car and the Kasprowy Wierch ski area . One of the ski slopes from Kasprowy Wierch to the Zakopan district of Kuźnice leads through the valley.
In the valley there are also two monasteries, Klasztoru Albertynek na Kalatówkach and Klasztoru Albertynów na Śpiącej Górze , and a hermitage.
