The Kasprowy Wierch ski area is located on the summit and the northern slopes of Kasprowy Wierch in the Polish High Tatras and Western Tatras in the municipality of Zakopane in the Powiat Tatrzański in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It is located in the Tatra National Park . In 1979, Jacek Nikliński set the previous Polish speed record for alpine descent of over 180 km / h in the ski area.

The ski area is located at an altitude of 1027 m to 1959 m. This makes it the highest ski area in Poland. The difference in altitude between the slopes is almost 1000 m. The capacity of the cable car and the two chairlifts is 3480 people per hour. There are two black (very difficult) and three red (difficult) slopes. The total length of the slopes is 16.5 km, with the longest slope being 8.5 km long.

Cable car

The cableway Kasprowy Wierch leads from Zakopane district Kuźnice to just below the summit of Kasprowy Wierch. The journey takes about 12 minutes and up to 360 people per hour can be transported. The difference in altitude is almost 1000 m and the length of the cable car is over 4250 m.

Hala Gąsienicowa ski lift

The four-seat Hala Gąsienicowa ski lift leads from the Hala Gąsienicowa alpine pasture in the Dolina Gąsienicowa valley to the summit of Kasprowy Wierch. The journey takes about 8 minutes.

Hala Goryczkowa ski lift

The two-seat Hala Goryczkowa ski lift leads from the Hala Goryczkowa alpine pasture in the Dolina Goryczkowa valley to the top of Kasprowy Wierch. The journey takes about 15 minutes.

The Gąsienicowa ski slope leads on the northeast slope of Kasprowy Wierch into the valley to Zakopane.

The Goryczkowa ski slope leads on the northwest slope of Kasprowy Wierch into the valley to Zakopane.

Infrastructure

There are several restaurants and numerous shops in Kuźnice. The lower station of the cable car is located there. There are limited parking spaces. Access is only possible up to the Johannes-Paul-II-Rondo.

On the summit of Kasprowy Wierch there is a mountain rescue station operated by the TOPR mountain rescue service , a restaurant, a small hotel and a weather station .

In the Dolina Gąsienicowa valley there is the Schronisko PTTK Murowaniec refuge and the Betlejemka alpine hut .

On the Alm Kalatówki there is the mountain hotel Hotel górski PTTK Kalatówki .
