Gubałówka ski area
The Gubałówka ski area is located on the summit and the southern slopes of Gubałówka in the Polish Pogórze Gubałowskie in the municipality of Zakopane in the Powiat Tatrzański in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It is located outside the Tatra National Park . The ski area is operated by the Polskie Koleje Linowe company.
location
The ski area is located at an altitude of 823 to 1122 m north of the Tatras . The difference in altitude between the slopes is almost 300 m. There is one red (difficult) and several green and blue slopes. The total length of the slopes is approx. 2 km, with the longest slope being 1.6 km long. On the descent, there is a panorama of the city of Zakopane in the Rów Tatrzański basin and the High Tatras and the Western Tatras behind it .
history
The ski area was created in 1938. The Gubałówka funicular was built in the same year. The Alpine Ski World Cup was held here in 1938/1939.

Ski lifts
There is a funicular and several cable and ribbon lifts in the ski area. In total, more than 2000 people can be transported per hour.
Funicular
The Gubałówka funicular runs from Zakopane to the mountain station just below the Gubałówka summit. Its length is about 1.3 km. It runs for 3 minutes and its cars can carry 121 people.
Cable or belt lifts
There are several cable and ribbon lifts on the Polana Gubałówka mountain pasture .
Ski slopes
Two ski slopes lead from Gubałówka into the valley.
The red (difficult) main slope is approx. 1600 m long and leads from the upper station to the lower station of the funicular. The average slope is approx. 19%.
The easy slopes on the Polana Gubałówka are each approx. 300 m long and their height difference is approx. 70 m.
All slopes are illuminated and can be supplied with artificial snow.
Infrastructure
The lower station is located in the center of Zakopane and is easily accessible by car and public transport. There are parking spaces at the lower station. There are ski schools and a ski rental in the ski area. On the Polana Gubałówka there is a snow park and a half pipe for snowboarders. There are numerous restaurants and shops in the ski area.
