The glacial formed by glacial Dolina Starorobociańska is a valley in the Polish West Tatra in the Lesser Poland . It is located in the municipality of Kościelisko in the powiat Tatrzański .
geography
The valley is a side valley of the Dolina Starorobociańska , which in turn is a side valley of the main valley Dolina Chochołowska , and is surrounded by mountains up to 1829 meters high. a. the Kominiarski Wierch . The rock walls in the valley are made of limestone.
The valley falls from east to west from about 1829 meters above sea level. The Iwaniacki Potok mountain river flows through it. Some of the valley's waters flow underground.
There are numerous caves in the valley, including Schronisko pod Dziobem I , Schronisko pod Dziobem II , Schronisko pod Dziobem III , Schron Zachodni w Iwanówce , Szczelina w Iwanówce and Schron w Ścianie pod Szczytem . They are not accessible to tourists.
etymology
The name can be translated as "Ivan's Valley".
Flora and fauna
The valley lies above and below the tree line and is covered with mountain pines in the upper area and coniferous forest in the lower area. The valley is a retreat for numerous mammals and bird species.

There is a high mountain climate in the valley.
Alpine farming
Before the Tatra National Park was established in 1954, the valley was used for alpine farming. After that, the owners of the alpine pastures were expropriated or forced to sell.
