The glacial formed by glacial Dolina Starorobociańska is a valley in the Polish West Tatra in the Lesser Poland . It is located in the municipality of Kościelisko in the powiat Tatrzański .
geography
The valley is a side valley of the main valley Dolina Chochołowska and is surrounded by mountains up to 2176 meters high. a. the Starorobociański Wierch . The rock walls in the valley are made of limestone.
The valley falls from south to north from approximately 2176 meters to 1035 meters. It is traversed by the Starorobociański Potok mountain river. Some of the valley's waters flow underground.

etymology
The name can be translated as "Valley of Old Labor". The name comes from the mine tunnels in the valley, which existed as early as 1520. Possibly they go back to the 15th century, making them the oldest mine tunnels in the Tatras. Silver, copper and pyrite were mined. Two buried tunnels and the remains of a mill are still there.
Flora and fauna
The valley lies above and below the tree line and is covered with mountain pines in the upper area and coniferous forest in the lower area. The valley is a retreat for numerous mammals and bird species.

There is a high mountain climate in the valley.
Alpine farming
Before the Tatra National Park was established in 1954, the valley was used for alpine farming. After that, the owners of the alpine pastures were expropriated or forced to sell. The largest alpine pasture in the valley was the Hala Stara Robota . There are still old alpine huts in the valley.

In the valley there are remains of two shelters, u. a. the Stara Robota hut , which did not survive the Second World War.
