The dolomite cinquefoil ( Potentilla nitida ), also known as gloss cinquefoil or Triglav rose , is a species of cinquefoil ( Potentilla ) in the rose family (Rosaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
The dolomite cinquefoil grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and forms 2 to 5 centimeters high, silvery cushions that cover rocks and rubble like a carpet. The stem leaves are densely silky-haired and fingered in three to five parts. The partial leaves are perforated in front.
Generative characteristics
The flowering period extends from July to September. The flowers are solitary on short stems. The hermaphrodite flowers are radially symmetrical and five-fold with a diameter of 2 to 3 centimeters . The sepals are purple on the inside and lanceolate. The pink, rounded petals are longer and lighter than the sepals. The many stamens and styles are purple.
Occurrence
The distribution area of the Dolomites cinquefoil includes the south-western Alps , the southern Alps from Lake Como to the Steiner Alps and the Apennines . In Austria this species occurs scattered in Carinthia and East Tyrol .
This limestone species only thrives on rocks and scree of limestone or dolomite in a sunny location , at altitudes of 1200 to 3100 meters.
