history
From 1984 to 2008 the new Alabamahalle was located on Domagkstraße, which took the name of an event hall of the same name on nearby Knorrstraße ; In the former hall, among other things, the program Live from Alabama was produced.
Even after the Bundeswehr moved out of the former radio barracks, the street served as the name giver for the area; from 1993 it was called Domagkgelände. The largest artist colony in Europe, the so-called Domagkateliers, developed there . Since the construction of the new Domagkpark district , only House 50 of the artist community has existed.
It was named in 1966 after the physician (pathologist, bacteriologist and Nobel Prize winner) Gerhard Johannes Paul Domagk .
