history
Doman was first mentioned in a document in 1370. The economic development of the village began in 1770 when coal was discovered here. In the years 1870–1912 two colonies emerged: "Slamina" and "Carolina".
In order to transport the coal faster, the StEG had the Franz Joseph Tunnel from the Doman mine to the iron and steel works in Reșița built between 1853 and 1864. The tunnel was 2.8 km long and was used by a narrow-gauge railway until the interwar period. At the end of the 1960s it was completely closed.
