Dominicus Pahr , also a couple , († 1602 in Borgholm ) was a German builder.

Live and act

The names of Dominicus Pahr's parents are not known. He himself married a woman of unknown name who died before him.

Sources name Pahr for the first time in 1560. In that year he worked as a master mason under the direction of his brother Franciscus for Duke Ulrich III. during the construction of Güstrow Castle . In 1569 he followed a call from Duke Johann Albrecht I to Schwerin . Under the guidance of his brother Johann Baptist , he worked as a master builder on the renovations and extensions of the Schwerin Palace . In 1572 he and his two brothers followed a call from the Swedish King John III. Here in 1573 he took over the management of the construction works for Örebro Castle . He then took part in the rebuilding of castles and fortifications in Borgholm and Kalmar , led by his brother Johann Baptist . From 1575 to 1580 he worked as a palace builder for the King of Sweden. During this time he took over the management of the further construction work in Borgholm and Kalmar, which he quickly completed.

Among other things, Pahr designed the ceilings and the interior of the “green” and “golden” halls, which were implemented in the inner castle portal and the fountain canopy. He also redesigned the palace in the style of Italian palazzi. Pahr's plans for the fortifications of Kalmar date from 1579 and 1584. About ten years later he worked for King Sigismund at Borgholm Castle . In 1602 he died there childless due to the plague.
