Donald Smith "Don" Cohan (born February 24, 1930 in New York City , † October 20, 2018 in Philadelphia ) was an American sailor .

successes

Donald Cohan, who was a member of the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club , took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich as the skipper of the American kite- class boat with Charles Horter and John Marshall as crew members. They finished the regatta taking place in the Olympic Center Schilksee in Kiel in third place behind the Australian boat with skipper John Cuneo and the East German boat led by Paul Borowski , with which they won the bronze medal. Cohan was a participant in world championships three times .

After a successful studies at Amherst College with cum laude he acquired subsequent to the Harvard University with a degree in law . He initially practiced as a lawyer, but then built up his own real estate company. Cohan was a member of the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and received the Senatorial Medal of Freedom .
