John Knox Marshall (born April 9, 1942 in Santiago de Chile , Chile ) is a former American sailor .

successes

John Marshall, who was a member of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club , took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich alongside Charles Horter as a crew member on the American kite- class boat with skipper Donald Cohan . They finished the regatta taking place in the Olympic Center Schilksee in Kiel in third place behind the Australian boat with skipper John Cuneo and the East German boat led by Paul Borowski , with which they won the bronze medal.

Marshall, who graduated from Harvard University in 1963 , was a multiple participant in the America's Cup . In 1980 he was part of the victorious Freedom crew . In 2017 he was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame . Marshall was at times president of the North Sails sailmaking company .
