Donald Tai Loy Ho

Don Ho , born Donald Tai Loy Ho , (born August 13, 1930 in Honolulu , † April 14, 2007 ) was a Hawaiian pop musician, singer and entertainer.

Life

Ho was born in the Kaka'ako neighborhood of Honolulu. He grew up in Kane'ohe. Ho graduated from Kamehameha School in 1949 and Springfield College in 1950.

He released his debut album Don Ho Show in 1965 and began playing in many places, including Las Vegas , Lake Tahoe and New York City . A year later his second album, Don Ho - Again! . His most famous songs are Tiny Bubbles and Pearly Shells . Ho later made numerous guest appearances on television series such as Adorable Jeannie , Three Girls and Three Boys , Sanford and Son , Charlie's Angels and Fantasy Island . In the late 1960s, Ho had his own TV show on ABC . It ran from October 1976 to March 1977.

In 2005 he sang a song for the movie Aloha, Scooby-Doo! .

Ho died of heart failure on April 14, 2007 at the age of 76.

Don Ho's first marriage was to Melvamay Kolokea Wong for 48 years. She is the mother of his first six children. Four other children come from other relationships. Time and again, Ho worked with the children - on stage, backstage or in his company. His best-known daughter is Hoku , who sang the theme song for the films Snow Free and Naturally Blond .
