Donnacona is a city ( ville ) in the MRC Portneuf of the Canadian province of Québec .

Donnacona is 45 km west of the provincial capital Québec on the north bank of the Saint Lawrence River and on the east bank of the Rivière Jacques-Cartier . The latter has its mouth here. Donnacona counted a total of 5564 inhabitants in 2006 and has an area of ​​20.02 km².

history

Donnacona was founded in 1672 by Toussaint Toupin. In 1920 Donnacona received city rights.
