Doomsday for the Deceiver is the first studio album by the US speed metal band Flotsam and Jetsam . It was released in 1986 through Metal Blade Records .

Emergence

Most of the songs for Doomsday for the Deceiver were written after guitarist Michael Gilbert joined in February 1985. The band then spent up to four hours a day in the rehearsal room to prepare for the recordings. The recordings took place in the Music Grinder Studios in Los Angeles . Although Metal Blade boss Brian Slagel and the band are listed as producers , most of the work was done by Bill Metoyer , who is officially listed as the sound engineer .

The band only had two weeks to record. Drummer Kelly David-Smith had to record his parts within two days. He was handicapped by a wound on his arm . In total, the recordings cost $ 12,000 . The album cover was drawn by Kevin Tyler and shows a green monster fighting the devil . The song She Took an Ax refers to Lizzie Borden , who was initially charged with the murder of her parents and acquitted. The Führer is a song against Adolf Hitler .
