Doreen DeFeis

Doreen DeFeis (* in New York , USA ) is an American opera singer ( soprano ) and sister of the well-known heavy metal singer David DeFeis .

Life

DeFeis received her vocal training at the Eastman School of Music and at the Juilliard School in New York. She was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Regional Competition.

After her first successes in the USA in the early 1980s, her real career began in 1986 in Europe. She embodied the operatic roles of Susanna, Pamina , Norina and Zerbinetta as a member of the ensemble in Kaiserslautern , Saarbrücken and Münster . Under the direction of Stefan Soltesz , she made her debut in Braunschweig as Sophie in Rosenkavalier . Many other roles have been added over the years. She received further engagements at renowned opera houses in Germany and Europe.

In addition to ensemble roles, DeFeis has also appeared as a soloist across Europe. Her vocal work is based primarily on works by Bach , Mahler , Mozart and Strauss , but also on those of contemporary composers such as Rudolf Kelterborn , Rainer Kunad and Michael Denhoff . In the course of her career, Doreen DeFeis has performed with well-known international orchestras .

Her first CD recording was made in 1996 with the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra (3rd Symphony by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki ). Two more CDs followed with Rigoletto ( Verdi ) and a solo interpretation of Schubert songs.

Doreen DeFeis is married and lives in Germany.

Other musical projects

On the 2002 heavy metal album Book of Burning by your brother David DeFeis ( Virgin Steele ), Doreen DeFeis gave a short vocal guest appearance in the intro of The Chosen Ones (together with her sister Danae DeFeis , singer of the New York rock band Stalk ).
