Binz village church

The village church of Binz is the seat of the Protestant parish of Binz on Rügen . It has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Stralsund parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .

history

The Binz village church was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1911–1913 as an offshoot of the St. Johannes parish in Zirkow . The new building had a large number of visitors from the seaside resort of Binz, while Zirkow, seven kilometers away, was less attractive. In 2003 the two parishes of Binz and Zirkow were merged, the parish office is located in Binz.

The furnishings in the church in Binz come from Bethel . The two-manual Grüneberg organ was delivered in 1913 (Opus no. 666) and was overhauled and restored by Rainer Wolter in 1985 and 2000 . The three church bells were cast in Bochum .

The interior painting of the church with oil paint from 1934 turned out to be unfavorable for the indoor climate, as the condensation could not be absorbed by the walls. It was not plastered again until spring 2000. A new painting is still pending and should be financed by donations.

organ

In 1912, the Szczecin organ builder Grüneberg built a new organ with a pneumatic playing and stop action . It has 14 registers on 2 manuals and a pedal . During the First World War , the pewter prospect pipes of that time had to be handed in for war purposes. They were replaced by pipes made of zinc sheet. In the course of the organ movement, the organ was changed to the neo-baroque soundscape. In 2012/13, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the organ, it was restored by the Wolter organ building workshop and changed back to the original romantic sound ideal.
