Coordinates: 36 ° 20 ' S , 141 ° 39' O Hindmarsh Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Victoria . The area is 7524.2 km² and has about 5,700 inhabitants.
Hindmarsh is located in western Victoria about 360 km northwest of the capital Melbourne on the Western Highway halfway from Melbourne to Adelaide and includes the following towns: Dimboola , Nhill, Jeparit, Rainbow and Netherby. The seat of the City Council is in Nhill in the south of the LGA, a place with almost 1700 inhabitants.
The agricultural area is located in the Wimmera region. 10% of all of Victoria's grain and oilseeds are produced in the Shire. In addition, poultry is mainly farmed. Here even 90% of all ducks in the state come from Hindmarsh.
