Building description and history
The Boragker Church is a late Romanesque plastered brick building with a saddle roof , square west transverse tower and a recessed 3/8 choir with a three-sided east end. On the church tower, which dates back to the 17th century , there is an octagonal roof turret with a tail hood. In the south wall of the church a stepped round arch portal can be seen, on the south wall of the choir a pointed arched and walled priest door.
Boragk originally formed its own parish for centuries with the towns of Altenau, Burxdorf and Fichtenberg . Today the parish belongs to the Protestant parish area "Mühlberg / Elbe and Koßdorf" , which is part of the Bad Liebenwerda church district .
Equipment (selection)
The interior of the church is characterized by a horseshoe gallery and a wooden beam ceiling with longitudinal beams in the ship's keel decor. The parapet of the gallery has a modern painting. There is also a round-arched triumphal arch between the tower and the nave in the church .
The altarpiece in the church dates from the early 17th century. An inscription here refers to the year 1621. It has a double column structure with fittings . A crucifixion painting can be seen in the main field, eagle heads on the cheeks. In the predella of the altar there is a painting of the Last Supper as well as portraits of the two reformers Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon , in the essay there is a picture of the resurrection .
The wooden polygonal pulpit with a sound cover also dates from the 17th century. Painted fittings can be seen on the basket. A large Romanesque, chalice-shaped baptismal font can also be found in the choir . Another piece of equipment in the church is a small bronze knight figure from the 15th century .
In the church there is also an organ (op. 109) created around 1893 by the Eilenburg master organ builder Conrad Geißler (1825–1897 ). The organ has a mechanical slide box , two manuals and nine stops .
Tombs and memorials
The Boragker church is surrounded by the local cemetery . Here you can find a listed cast-iron grave cross from the 19th century . Another tomb is located on the outer choir wall of the church. This dates from the 18th century . The tomb of pastor Christian Clarus († 1721), however, can be found inside the building. There it is located on the triumphal arch and was decorated with putti and God's eye, among other things.
