Building description and history

The Bronkower village church is an early Gothic hall building built in the first half of the 14th century with a saddle roof made of brick and field stones. In the west there is an octagonal roof tower built in half-timbered construction with a tail hood and lantern . The church tower was built during renovation work in the middle of the 18th century . The church was rebuilt in the baroque style. In the south of the building there is an annex serving as a community hall, which was built in 1980.

Inside the church there is a flat wooden beam ceiling and a horseshoe gallery. Among the pieces of equipment available here is a pulpit altar from the second half of the 17th century . In the winged altar you can see Bohemian-influenced paintings from around 1430. The chalice-shaped and hexagonal baptism is made of wood and was also created in the second half of the 17th century. Another noteworthy piece of equipment is a baptismal angel with a coat of arms, which is inscribed from the year 1758 and is listed as the church in the local monument register. It was restored in 2001. The organ in the church is an instrument that was created around 1885 by the Neuzell master organ builder Robert Uibe . It has a pneumatic cone drawer , a manual and seven stops .

Bronkow is now part of the Protestant parish Calau in the Lower Lusatia parish of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia , EKBO for short .
