Waginger See

Waginger See is a municipality-free area in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein .

The 8.98 km² area includes the water area of the eponymous Waginger See and Tachinger See . It borders on the communities of Waging am See in the southwest and east, Taching am See in the north, Kirchanschöring in the east and Petting in the south.

The private law owner of the lakes and thus the areas of the community-free area is the Free State of Bavaria whose palace and lake administration looks after the lakes.

Sea fluctuations

Depth map of the Waginger-Tachinger See with knots of various sea fluctuations (1905)

In 1905, Anton Endrös examined the sea fluctuations in the Waginger See and Tachinger See . He found over 10 oscillations of different duration . The largest fluctuation was 75 mm, with twice the amplitude mostly remaining below 18 mm. The longest uninodal longitudinal oscillation extends over both lakes and has an average duration of 62 minutes, with the knot lying between the two lake constrictions. Each lake also has its own uninodal longitudinal oscillation, the Waginger See with approx. 17 minutes of average duration, the Tachinger See with approx. 13 minutes of average duration. Both lakes also have their own binodal oscillations, the Waginger See one with approx. 12 minutes, the Tachinger See one with approx. 6 minutes. Multi-nodal vibrations were also found, all of them under 10 minutes.
