Bronkow [ ˈbʁɔŋkoː ] ( Lower Sorbian Bronkow ) is a municipality in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg and part of the Altdöbern office.
Community structure
The municipality includes the districts of Lipten ( Libeśin in Lower Sorbian ) and Lug (Ług) as well as the inhabited parts of the municipality Rutzkau (Cernjow) and Saadow (Žadow) and the Amandusdorf and Forsthaus Lipten residential areas .
history
First documentary mention and interpretation of the place name
The first written mention of the village Bronkow took place in 1495 as Proncko . In 1527 the place name Branko appears again . The place name, which comes from Sorbian , is interpreted as a settlement of a man with the name Bronek .
Administrative affiliation and incorporations
As a result of the provisions of the Congress of Vienna Bronkow and its current districts came in 1815 with the area of the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the district of Calau from 1817–1952 (until 1947 in the province of Brandenburg , 1947–1952 in the state of Brandenburg ). 1952-1993 the places were part of the district Calau (until 1990 in the GDR - district Cottbus , 1990-1993 again in the state of Brandenburg). Since the district reform in 1993 they have been in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district.
On July 1, 1965, Saadow was incorporated into Bronkow. Rutzkau followed on February 1, 1972. On October 26, 2003, Bronkow finally merged with the two neighboring communities Lug and Lipten to form the community Bronkow as part of the municipal reform in the state of Brandenburg .

Möller was elected in the mayoral election on May 26, 2019 with 92.7% of the valid votes for a term of five years.
Sights and culture
In the list of architectural monuments in Bronkow and in the list of ground monuments in Bronkow are the monuments entered in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.
The Bronkower village church is an early Gothic hall building made of bricks and field stones from the first half of the 14th century . A remarkable piece of equipment is a baptismal angel with a coat of arms, which is inscribed from the year 1758. In the church there is an organ that was created by the Neuzell master organ builder Robert Uibe around 1885 .
On the village green there is a memorial for the villagers who died in the First and Second World Wars in the form of a stele . The monument stands in a green area and is fenced. The inscription "1914 - 1918 - Heroes died in the World War:" is embedded in the front of the monument . Below are the names and dates of life of the fallen.
A plaque commemorating those who died in World War II leans against the lower front of the monument. Under the names of the fallen there is the inscription: "They urge peace!"
Bronkow Airfield
The Bronkow military airfield was built in 1936 and 1937. Barracks for around two hundred soldiers were built next to the two slopes. Furthermore, the square had a siding of the Deutsche Reichsbahn to Altdöbern .
Good Hope
In 1872 the banker Ludwig Lehmann zu Halle registered the "Gute Hope" mine, the temporary operation was mainly used for the spirits distillery and a neighboring brick factory.
traffic
Bronkow lies on the national road L 55 between Calau and Wormlage ( B 96 ). The L 61 to Lieskau begins in the municipality. The A 13 Berlin – Dresden runs through the municipality with the Bronkow junction .
