Hermsdorf (until January 1, 2002 Hermsdorf bei Ruhland ; Lower Sorbian Lubušow , Upper Sorbian Hermanecy ) is a municipality in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz in the south of Brandenburg and part of the Office Ruhland .

The community is located in Upper Lusatia and is an agricultural village.

history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1489 .
Hermsdorf and today's district of Jannowitz have belonged to the Hoyerswerda district in the Prussian province of Silesia since 1816 . Since the district was west of the Oder-Neisse line , it became part of the Soviet occupation zone in 1945 and incorporated into the state of Saxony . In 1952, the places came to the newly founded Senftenberg district in the GDR - Cottbus district (1990-1993 in the state of Brandenburg). Since the district reform in 1993 they have been in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district.

Müller was elected in the mayoral election on May 26, 2019 with 89.4% of the valid votes for a further term of five years without a candidate.
Attractions
In the list of architectural monuments in Hermsdorf (near Ruhland) and in the list of ground monuments in Hermsdorf (near Ruhland) are the monuments entered in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg.
Lipsa Castle , which is used as a nursing home with the associated castle park, is located in the Lipsa part of the municipality of Hermsdorf .
In 1736 the current church was built on the Hermsdorf cemetery. The church tower was demolished in 1987 because of the risk of collapse. In 2012, the community rebuilt the church tower. The current church goes back to a previous building from 1530. In front of the church there is a war memorial for the fallen of the First World War .

Hermsdorf is on the district road K 6603 between Ruhland and Lipsa, the district Jannowitz on the state road L 55 between Ruhland and Ortrand . The closest motorway junction is Ruhland on the A 13 Berlin - Dresden .
There is a Category II commercial airfield in the nearby Schwarzheide .
