Rutzkau ( Lower Sorbian Cernjow ) is part of the municipality Bronkow in the Altdöbern district . The place is located in the western part of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in southern Brandenburg .

location

Rutzkau is located in Niederlausitz, south of the Niederlausitzer Landücken nature park and north of the Lausitz border wall .

To the north are districts of the city of Calau with its districts of Schrakau , Radensdorf , Craupe and Gollmitz . To the east and south-east follow places of the municipality Bronkow Amandusdorf , Bronkow, Lipten and Saadow , further to the east follows the municipality Luckaitztal . In the south and west, Rutzkau borders on places in the neighboring districts of Elbe-Elster , Göllnitz and Lindthal .

history

The name form Rutzkau can be traced back to the Old Sorbian word Ručkov , which is related to the personal name Ručka . The Lower Sorbian Rucka means little hand . The place name was mentioned as Ruzkowe as early as 1305 . Other names were Ruskow in 1431 , Ruschkow in 1434 and Rutzko in 1537. The Sorbian form of the name Cernjow can be derived from the Lower Sorbian word cerny for black . The Sorbian place name was mentioned in 1761 as Zerńow and in 1843 as Cernjow .

After the Congress of Vienna , Rutzkau came with the entire Lower Lusatia to the Kingdom of Prussia and belonged to the Luckau district . Since 1952, Rutzkau has belonged to the newly founded district of Calau and was incorporated into Bronkow on February 1, 1972. On October 26, 2003, the communities Lug, Lipten and Bronkow merged with its districts Saadow and Rutzkau to form the community Bronkow.

Economy and Infrastructure

The federal motorway 13 runs east of the village . Until December 2006, Rutzkau was connected to the railway network via the Lindthal – Altdöbern Süd railway.
