Surrounding villages are Gollmitz in the north, Settinchen in the northeast, Bronkow in the east, Saadow in the south and Rutzkau in the southwest.

history

On earlier maps the place was initially listed under the name Vorwerk Bronkow , in the 19th century the place name was changed to Amandusdorf. There are several theories about the place name. Most likely the place was named after the son of a former landlord on the Bronkow manor , to which the Vorwerk belonged. According to another interpretation, the place name comes from a farmer who was the first to settle in Amandusdorf. In 1840 there were 31 residents in seven houses in Amandusdorf, in 1864 there were only 24 residents in six buildings. The place has always been a parish of the Bronkow parish.

Amandusdorf used to be in the Calauische Kreis in the Kingdom of Saxony . As a result of the agreements of the Congress of Vienna , Saxony had to cede part of its territory, including Amandusdorf, to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815. There the place was in the district of Calau in the administrative district of Frankfurt . Since Amandusdorf was founded as a Vorwerk, it was never an independent municipality, but has always been part of the Bronkow municipality. After the Second World War, the village was first in the Soviet Zone and later in the GDR . During the district reform on July 25, 1952, the place became part of the Calau district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification, it was renamed the Calau district and merged with the Senftenberg district in 1993 to form the new Oberspreewald-Lausitz district .
