Denstedt village church
The Protestant village church Denstedt is in the district Denstedt of the community Ilmtal-Weinstrasse in the district of Weimarer Land in Thuringia .
history
The Lords of Denstedt were patrons of the village church as early as 1200 . They took care of the necessary reconstruction or extension of the church several times. The choir stalls for the celebrating priests and the crucifix remained from the medieval church building . In 1525, the Reformation was introduced from Weimar . Difficult years followed for the Church and believers.
In the summer of 1779, a fire spread from the rectory roof to the church due to flying sparks and destroyed the upper church tower , the roof of the nave and the interior fittings.
The reconstruction required many sacrifices.
In 1875, master Friedrich Weber from Wickerstedt made the high pulpit altar and parts of the baptismal bowl . Six windows were inserted and the galleries rebuilt. Two bells from Jena were bought.
An old organ was acquired from Bösleben and Ilmenau . The altar cross was donated by Tsar Nicholas I.
In June 1859, the patrons Wegner-Linker and his brother donated an organ. It became the Liszt organ Denstedt . Many personalities came here earlier and still today.
In the 1920s, a war memorial was erected to the left of the church portal for the soldiers of the village who were victims of the First World War . In 2004 a memorial plaque for soldiers who perished in the Second World War was placed next to it .
The organ monument, freed from a deep slumber in 1980, underwent a general overhaul in 1993 by Förster u. Nicolaus subjected. Organ builders from Orgelbau C. Rühle from Moritzburg have restored the organ.
In 1989 the tower and church roof were re-covered, and in 1991/92 they were restored in accordance with monument conservation criteria.
