The village church is located in the center of Duben, directly on the federal road 87 ( Dubener Hauptstraße ) and about 300 meters from the Duben motorway exit . The address of the church is Dubener Hauptstrasse 14 .

Architecture and history

The church is a simple half-timbered church typical of the region with a three-sided east end. It was built in the late 17th century, and an inscription on the pulpit stairs gives the date “31. Martis 1684 ”, the Brandenburg State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and the State Archaeological Museum, dates the building to the year 1686. A church previously located in the same place was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War . The village church was built by local craftsmen with building materials from the surrounding area, so the wood for the half-timbering comes from the forests in the region, the bricks for the partition came from the brickworks in Duben and Niewitz .

The church has two-zone rectangular windows and a boarded roof tower . The latter was not added until 1795. Is on the west pediment a verbretterter roof skylights , also from 1795. In its interior, the church has a simple horseshoe gallery from the construction period with belusterförmigen columns and Sägezahnfries . After the church, like many monuments in the GDR , was neglected until the fall of the Wall, the Duben village church was renovated for the first time between 1992 and 1997 . The costs for the renovation were provided partly by the city of Luckau and partly by the Rhineland-Palatinate partner municipality of Vallendar . The church was consecrated as a motorway church on December 21, 1997, making it the first motorway church in Brandenburg.

Furnishing

The village church Duben has an aedical altar from 1684, which was converted into a pulpit altar in the 18th century by installing a pulpit . The predella depicts the Lord's Supper , flanked by the distribution of the sacrament by contemporary preachers. The altarpieces also date from the construction period and were repainted later.
