Gustow village church
The village church zu Gustow is the Protestant Gothic parish church of the parish Poseritz in the south of the island of Rügen in the village of Gustow .
history
First was the choir of the church built around the year 1250th The main nave with the vault was completed in the 15th century . After a fire in 1677, the upper parts were replaced by baroque bricks in 1708–1734 . To the northeast of the church is a Mordwange (atonement stone ) from 1510. This stone cheek was donated in memory of the then preacher Thomas Norenberg, who, according to legend, was killed by drunken farmers.
The church has been extensively renovated since 1990. Work on the cemetery wall, the roof, the bell house and the roof turret took place.
Furnishing
Most of the church's furnishings date from the 15th century. Valuable wall paintings, which were discovered during renovation work in 1935, date from around 1420. A striking triumphal cross group from the 15th century can be admired on the rood screen . The altarpiece with the Last Supper and the baptismal stand date from the Baroque period (around 1720) . The carving groups " Anna selbdritt " (around 1500) and " Pietà " (late 15th century) are exceptional . The pulpit dates from 1784, the organ from 1860.
