history

The Leuckfeld Chronicle (1509) shows that Pope Julius mentioned the church in Heteborn. A church had already stood in the same place beforehand. The church was completely destroyed in 1636 in a fire and looting of the place. The Provost of Halberstadt promised a new building in 1714, which was completed the following year. The donors were "the royal majesty, the ducal-Magdeburg and semi-urban princely house". The original altar, a gift from the Neustädter Kirche zu Quedlinburg (today Nikolaikirche ), was installed elsewhere, however, the origin of the Heteborn altar is not entirely clear. The consecration took place on the Sunday after Trinity by Pastor Lankfeld (Gröningen).

Recording of the bell ringing (Christmas Eve 2013)

The church tower received new bells several times: initially a bell from another church was used in 1715, followed by newly cast bells in 1741 and 1795. In 1829 one bell was restored, the second, smaller bell had to be given in during the First World War . The remaining bell was replaced by a new one in 1927. This bell, which is still present today, bears the inscription You let me arise, for which I am now calling you to enter into eternal life. The church tower clock, which was restored again in 1844, was replaced in 1912.

A winter church with electric heating (installed in 1984) is available below the organ for services outside of summer. This room was financed with donations from the partner community Bad Wildungen .

After the church roof was re-covered in 1984, a complete renovation of the roof structure and the church roof became necessary. Work began in 2008, as only donations are available for this purpose, after the renovation of the roof structure, further work was suspended and continued in 2012. In 2013, the false ceiling could be pulled in again. The bell tower was renewed the following year. In 2014 the organ sounded again for the first time in many years. The year of completion cannot yet be foreseen.

Furnishing

The pulpit, the confessional and the official chair are made in Gröningen , the year 1737 above the pulpit in the middle above the altar indicates the production.

organ

Organ of the church, but cannot be played during the roof renovation

In 1848 the organ at that time was completely replaced. A used organ from the Adolf Reubke company came into the church, which has 10 voices (2 in the pedal, 8 in the single manual) and a pedal-manual coupler. Two bellows provide the necessary wind . One register was subsequently expanded; another register is not available.

With the renovation in the early 2010s, the organ was dismantled. In 2014, after completing the roof work, the organ was rebuilt. Numerous pipes were replaced, a new motor installed, the pedal completely renewed and LED lighting installed. While the organ played for the first time on August 16, 2014, the official handover took place on September 14, 2014 in the presence of the organ builder from Dingelstadt.
