Building description, history and equipment

Northwest view

The place Kauxdorf was first mentioned as Kuckucksdorf in 1217 when it passed into the possession of the Dobrilugk monastery . It remained in the monastery until 1234 and was then transferred more often due to various claims to rule.

The church in Kauxdorf today is a baroque half-timbered building built at the beginning of the 18th century with a three-sided east end and south porch. In the west of the nave there is a boarded-up tower, which is square at the base and merging into an octagonal, in the form of a ridge turret with a tail hood and weather vane.

The interior of the church is characterized by a horseshoe gallery with ornamental parapet paintings. The church has three carved figures from around 1430 and a wooden baptismal angel from the beginning of the 18th century.

In the church there is a further from the 1909 Bad Liebenwerdaer organ builder Arno Voigt created organ (op. 7). The Kauxdorf organ has a pneumatic cone chest , two manuals and five stops . The building was restored after the fall of the Wall in 1995 and 1996. Two years later, in 1998, the organ was also restored.

Kauxdorf is currently from the parish of Bad Liebenwerda associated Rectory Saxdorf care.
