Building description and history

The Langennaundorf Church is a rectangular, late Gothic hall building with a straight east end made of field stones. It was built in the 14th century . Around 1715 the building was extensively renewed, including enlarging the south and east windows. In the west of the nave there is a square , half-timbered bell tower , which dates from the same time as the renovations. This has a convicted the octagonal bell upstairs with verschieferter tail hood and lantern .

Equipment (selection)

The impressive interior of the church dates from around 1715. It is characterized by a wooden barrel ceiling, which, in order to visually increase the space , was painted illusionistically with galleries , slug panes and curtains. Further ceiling paintings in the top of the vault show the slightly cloudy sky, a female figure with tape and depictions of angels in three image fields.

The altarpiece dates from around 1715. In the predella there is the depiction of the Last Supper , the crucifixion of Jesus can be seen in the middle picture and the birth of Christ in the upper painting. The polygonal pulpit also dates from 1726, the cup-shaped font from the 15th century .

Other pieces of the church include an altar crucifix ( 18th century ), a chalice from tin (around 1800), a baptismal font with an inscription (1769) and a pewter Altarleuchter couple on ball feet (1715).

The Langennaundorf organ has a pneumatic cone chest , a manual and 6 stops . This was created in 1917 by the Liebenwerda organ builder Arno Voigt (op. 43). The organ prospectus is inscribed from the year 1799.

The Langennaundorf Church is surrounded by the local cemetery. In the church itself there is an incised gravestone behind the altar for the clergyman Johannes, who died in 1514. The grave of Margarethe Richter, who died in 1650, can be found on the south wall outside, crowned with rolls and cartilage.

A war memorial for the villagers of Langennaundorf who died in the First World War is in the form of a field stone a little north of the church on the village green. On a plaque attached there are 6 names with date of death and unit. At the base of the monument there is also a memorial plaque for those who died in the village in World War II .
