The core of the village church in Vielist in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania goes back to the 13th century. It belongs to the parish of Jabel in the provost of Neustrelitz, Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

Building description

The church is a rectangular field stone building with a retracted rectangular choir and a transverse rectangular west tower across the width of the nave. A barrel vaulted sacristy is added to the north . The eastern outer wall of the choir has a panel with a staggered group of three windows ( Trinity window ), the longitudinal walls of the choir and nave have pointed arch panels between the windows . The arched windows of the nave and the groin vaults inside are the result of structural changes in the Renaissance style around 1566. The nave was vaulted with a central pillar, creating a single-pillar room . The half-timbered tower top was renewed around 1700.

Furnishing

The equipment of the church include a classicist pulpit altar with flanking patronage boxes of 1794 and an offertory box and a song panel, also from the 18th century. The door to the sacristy with iron fittings probably dates back to the 13th or 14th century. A bell for the church was cast by Johann Christian Meyer in Neustrelitz in 1789 .

The sacristy was converted into a crypt chapel in the 18th century by the von Erlenkamp family, who were then patrons. In the church there are three coffins with rich pewter fittings from the 18th century. A silver-gold-plated chalice from 1854, a silver jug from 1823 and two pewter bowls serve as liturgical implements. A pair of pewter candlesticks was created in 1794.
