Dorothea Christ (born May 17, 1921 in Basel ; † August 19, 2009 there ) was a Swiss art historian , art critic and author .

Dorothea Christ grew up in Basel and studied art history with the minor subjects classical archeology and German literary history at the University of Basel . From 1947 to 1948 she worked as an assistant at the Basel Historical Museum . Dorothea Christ then worked for the observer and from 1948 she was an art critic on the Swiss radio station DRS .

Since 1972 she has been the editor of the newsletter of the Society for Swiss Art History . From 1983 to 1987 Dorothea Christ presided over the Society of Swiss Women Painters, Sculptors and Craftsmen . She published countless art history publications and was also involved in various commissions.

Dorothea Christ married the doctor and university professor Heinrich Herzog (1920–2014) in 1950. They found their final resting place in the Wolfgottesacker cemetery in Basel.

Dorothea Christ's estate is kept in the Basel-Stadt State Archives .
