Dorothea Richter (born April 25, 1983 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former German basketball player.

Player career

Richter played at SV Halle from 1991. In 2000 she became German champion in the youth class B with the team and moved to ODB Recklinghausen in the same year. There she was German champion with the U20 in 2001. For the 2001 season Richter moved to BG Dorsten, which played in the 1st basketball league .

Richter graduated from high school in Recklinghausen in 2002, became vice-champion with the U20 of the BG Dorsten in the same year and German champion the following year. She was also used in the Bundesliga team and with the team in 2004 German Cup winner . In 2007, the BG Dorsten returned the Bundesliga license and Richter became without a club.

For the 2007/2008 season she moved to Italy to Phard Napoli Basket Vomere and from there to the Hungarian first division club MiZo Pécs. In December 2008 Richter returned to Germany for the then first division club New Basket '92 Oberhausen . In the following season she moved to TSV 1880 Wasserburg and for the 2010/11 season to Heli Girls Nördlingen Donau-Ries.

In 2013, Richter ended her first division career and became a consultant for young talent at the German Basketball Association.

From the 2015/2016 season she played for the Turn-Klubb in Hanover , with which she became champion in the 2nd women's basketball Bundesliga North and was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga. She played until April 2017.

National team

Your national team career began on May 14, 2001 with a 70:64 win over Latvia in Riga . Richter was a player in the German national team at the European Championships in 2005 , 2007 and 2011 . In total she came to 159 internationals; their last use was on July 14, 2012 in the European Championship qualifier against Sweden in Wolfenbüttel .

After the playing career

During her playing days and afterwards, she worked at TK Hannover as a coordinator for the Bundesliga women and as a youth coach. In January 2019, she temporarily took over the coaching position at Bundesliga club TK Hannover and held this position until the end of the 2018/19 season.
